Will Pewitt (he/him) grew up in Austin, Texas, and currently lives near the beach in Jacksonville, Florida, where he is working on a book featuring his original translations of premodern Arabic poetry by women predominantly from Andalusia.
He has taught at several institutions including the University of Arizona, at which he earned his M.F.A., and the University of North Florida, at which he is serving as Faculty Fellow for the Hicks Honors College. While primarily teaching global literature and creative writing, he also offers more interdisciplinary surveys that grapple with intellectual history as well as experiential courses where students may work collaboratively in simulated scenarios as a “class congress” or as “revolutionary writers.”
Pewitt graduated cum laude from Trinity University with a double-major in English and Modern American Studies (in addition to minors in History and Art History). These days, when not reading through submissions for The Adroit Journal or advising on his university’s Shakespeare adaptations, he is being walked by his rescue mutt, Ladybug, or working on his shapes with his taskmaster toddler — who is made out of cheeks.
